The purpose of the Young Astronauts Club is to foster an understanding of the importance of science and math education with an emphasis on space and the space program.  Our club works directly with the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society and attends the Highland Road Observatory regularly.  In the spring of each year, we attend the Louisiana Arts and Science Center Challenger Learning Center Program to simulate space station and mission control in Houston.  This year our club held a science fair in which space topics were discussed and presented.

Requirements for the Young Astronauts Club are:

- Must be in the fifth grade
- No C's in science on report card
- No D's or F's in any subject on report card
- Must take and exam (study guide will be given and test date stated)
